Edward H. Schroeder - Women Pastors - Christ's Gifts to the Church. Ex-Missouri Synod Lutherans as we all were, our heritage said women pastors were a no-no. Seminex itself was a loud "no" to a number of Missouri's no-no's, so was Missouri's nix on women pastors another one that had to go? I was asked to speak to the subject at the ELIM assembly that summer (1976). Here's what I said.

Catholic. The practice of not ordaining women in the Church was not a true and valid Tradition because it rested on a three-fold prejudice against women:
1. Women were considered inferior by nature and by law.

It is a fact that many Fathers ... were of the opinion that women could not be ordained priests (due to) the prejudice that somehow held every woman responsible for Eve's sin. It is clear that this religious bias invalidated their judgment as to the suitability of women for ordination.

Women Deacons From at least the 3rd to the 8th centuries women were sacramentally ordained as deacons in the Catholic Church! This proves that they are capable of receiving Holy Orders. (more)
