Seven
ways to recognize ministries of women
Since Mary first announced
Jesus' resurrection, women have had a key part in giving witness
to the Gospel, and in building up the church.
Your congregation can celebrate
the witness of women in your community with the following ideas.
 |
Display
historical photos of women of your congregation with captions |
 |
Hold
a tea or other celebration to honor older women of the congregation.
Invite the women to prepare brief stories of vignettes about
their ministries within the congregation and those of the women
who went before them. Publish these stories in your church newsletter. |
 |
Ask
your pastor to note the contributions of women of the congregation
in sermons, and prayers |
 |
Assign
confirmation students to interview older women of the congregation
and learn about their early participation in its life. Tape the
interviews and build an oral history archive. |
 |
Conduct
adult forum sessions abouth the historical contributions of women
to building up the church and sharing the Gospel. |
 |
Offer
a Bible study on the witness of women. Invite participants to
discuss the ways women have witnessed to them and nurtured their
faith. |
 |
Celebrate
in worship the dates of the first women ordained in churches
around the world. |
