Women's ordination remains on the agenda within the LCA and we are keen to encourage the issue being listed on the agenda for the General Convention in 2003. To this end the Women's Ministry Network organised its second national conference, "Courageous Voices", on January 11th and 12th 2002 at Concordia College Chapel in Highgate, Adelaide, South Australia. The keynote speaker was Priscilla Singh, head of the women's desk (Women in Church and Society) of the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva. The pre-conference brochure said: The second national conference of the Women's Ministry Network is an invitation to join together for a time of speaking about and listening to the things that are important to us. This is the time in the life of the Lutheran Church of Australia to talk about the ministry of women. IT IS A TIME FOR COURAGEOUS VOICES. |

Reports Shirley Schubert reports At the 2000 General Convention the vote for women's ordination only received 53% of delegates votes when it needed 66% + one vote. We still have a long way to go to get such a massive majority but please believe that every small action counts. Your prayers are appreciated. |
